Rags
This project is based on an Sci-Fi prototype derived from analysing the possible consequences, in urban communities, of the decline in the availability of raw resources for manufacturing and industry.
The prototype is based on a fictional scenario where small communities start to form around the collection or salvaging of specific materials from landfills; a sort of urban modern caste system: the metal collectors, the brick and gravel collectors, the rag collectors, the green waste collectors, etc.
The result is a family of objects made from casting discarded objects to form functional furniture and lighting pieces.
Rags from discarded industrial textiles and tree trimmings from London parks are joined using Jesmonite and pigments.
